Swim Plus Home > Beginner Classes

Beginner lessons are for non-swimmers just getting started learning how to swim. These lessons teach buoyancy, use of arms and legs for propulsion, and to independently take a breath in the water. Students also learn accidental pool immersion survival skills.

Beginning Aquatics Skills include:

  • Entering and moving through the water unassisted.

  • Safely exiting the water.

  • Rolling on to back and floating.

  • Alternating arm action.

  • Simultaneous arm action.

  • Alternating leg action.

  • Simultaneous leg action.

  • Combined stroke on front using arm and leg action.

NOTE: There is not necessarily a connection between our general level descriptions and the number of lessons a person takes. Everyone learns at different rates and the learning process depends upon the student’s willingness to participate in the process.
