Intermediate swimmers are mastering
coordinated arm and leg movements, improving
breathing techniques, as well as more efficient
movement in the water. Students are introduced to
deeper water, pool entry and exit procedures.
Primary skills are continually reinforced. Usually a
child could be considered “pool safe” at the end of
this level of instruction although they should never
be unsupervised around water.
Intermediate Aquatics Skills include:
-
Step from side
into deep water..
-
Move from
front float to a standing position, to a back
float, and back to a standing position.
-
Push off and
swim using a combination of arm and leg action
on the front.
-
Push off and
swim using a combination of arm and leg action
on the back.
NOTE: There is
not necessarily a connection between our general
level descriptions and the number of lessons a
person takes. Everyone learns at different rates and
the learning process depends upon the student’s
willingness to participate in the process.
